Like Galaxy’s Edge, Disney’s newest attraction, the older rides have a level of detail not typically seen in lesser amusement parks. Jungle Cruise was one of the original rides when Disneyland opened in 1955. I read that not much has changed since the original.
The attention to detail is one of the things I love about Disney. It adds to the realism and helps with the story of being in a far-off exotic land. Even now, with increased worldwide travel and exposure to other cultures, these places seem substantial. I can only guess how impressive they must have felt 66 years ago when America traveled less.
The entrance and boathouse were patterned after the fictitious Jungle Navigation Company located on a river in a British colony.
