Perhaps the opposite of the subdued and elegant style of the classic bikes I presented yesterday is today’s over-the-top colors. A small subset has outfitted their motorcycles with LED lights. Often, they rotate between different colors. I waited for a particularly contrasty color to the green paint.
These LED festooned bikes are not new. They’ve been around for a while, and I’ve been equally attracted. Not necessarily because I like them. But because they are visually compelling. Nearly a decade ago, during my first ROT Rally coverage I created this post.
The method in which I capture these technicolor bikes have changed, however. I the early days with limited dynamic range, I resorted to an HDR shot on a tripod with at least three different exposures. Post-processing merged these into a single image. For this year, relying upon the superior native dynamic range of the Fujifilm GFX 50R. I took a single photo — handheld — and did some simple post-processing.
