Known as the Pink Palace of the Pacific, The Royal Hawaiian opened its doors in 1927. It’s the second oldest hotel in Waikiki, after the Mona Surfrider Hotel, which opened in 1901.
I’ve been drawn to this upscale tropical hotel for years. Taking many pictures of the interior and grounds. Oddly, I’ve never featured a picture of the entire facade until today.
The pink, green, and blue create a striking color contrast. I captured this early morning with comparably fewer people walking through the area. Shortly after, a yoga class started in the grassy area, and the tourist activity increased. Having some people in the frame works for scale and adds a human element. Too many folks, on the other hand, can add unneeded clutter.
