After a two-week pause for different locations, we are back in Hawaii. The holiday season is over, and we find ourselves in Kaka’ako where we last left off. As an up-and-coming industrial area east of downtown Honolulu, we still see a mix of old warehouses and new developments.
Today’s photo aptly documents this transition. I’m sure within a decade, traces of the old warehouses will be consigned to history.
The contrast is stark between old and new. And unlike some gentrification where lively old neighborhoods get overwhelmed by soul-less development. Replacing run-down warehouses is the kind of change everyone can get behind.
