They are down to the finishing touches at the newly completed Indeed Tower in downtown Austin. I’ve posted a few pictures of it’s construction featuring a sloping design with a triangular crown. It’s keeping with the newer skyscrapers in Austin that go beyond the traditional rectangular box.
Better still, a generous modern lobby contrasts beautifully with the 1914 neoclassical rival post office next door. Named Johnson Hall, the post office was donated to the University of Texas System and fully renovated for the Indeed Tower development. There are plans to make it into a food hall.
This is the backside looking towards the skyscraper. To the right are the giant windows of Johnson Hall. To the left, a new park. I love the contrasting grids from the new construction, the historic building, and the park’s walkway. They’ve done a great job, and I’ll feature more pictures in the next couple of posts.
