I’m finishing this series on San Antonio with the River Walk, which is the way I started the series a few weeks ago. The flood control dam I featured back then was just south of the touristy area. Today, We are up north next to the Pearl District. This section is more park-like and caters to the locals. You won’t find any bars and restaurants on this stretch.
The River Walk is surprisingly long. Most people only see the dense bar and hotel-filled downtown section. However, it extends considerably north and south. Eventually, the River Walk stops and continues on as just the San Antonio River.
My son often walks and runs along the river, sometimes even going all the way downtown. It’s a considerable resource that San Antonio has maximized both for tourists and locals.
