I’m featuring Tanya in my second Precision Camera portrait I made during this year’s Winter Expo. In the past, Precision had a backdrop setup with lights, but not this time.
I found the area towards the back of the store with some overhead decorative lights, a quiet place with bar stools away from the hubbub. I then asked each Sony model for a short posing session.
I often prefer environmental portraits over setups with traditional portrait-studio backgrounds, creating a more natural image. However, I like to counter the potential background distraction with an extremely shallow depth of field. As you can see, the new lens I was testing — optimized for portraiture — beautifully tamed the shelves of retail products.
