During last year’s SXSW, I happened on an elaborate exhibit by Porsche — named Unseen Porsches, they displayed five prototypes. I was excited that they had another show at this year’s SXSW. So much so that I brought my chunky Fujifilm GFX 50S II, my highest-quality camera, intending to create high-resolution photos. Unfortunately, I wasn’t as impressed with this year’s selection.
Called Collaborations Unseen, this year’s vehicles seem like artistic works rather than prototypes. While interesting, I didn’t feel the same visceral excitement as last year. However, Porsche set up an even more impressive structure in the exact location and created a marketing tie-in with an upcoming Transformers film I discussed yesterday.
The last vehicle took center stage and was visible from the outside. It’s a rather odd duck — excuse the pun. The cars are undoubtedly more playful this year, perhaps showing the lighter side of Porsche.
