South Asia House, SXSW 2023 – Austin, Texas

I was back in downtown Austin on Sunday for SXSW 2023 and started at South Asia House. The event catered to the growing South Asian population in Austin. That isn’t surprising given that Austin is a tech hub with a large influx of Indians with Information Technology expertise.

I was interested in checking it out given that I have a soft spot for India and having visited the country twice. I also kept a promise I made to Kirtana, whom I met on Friday as she set up the venue.

It was Friday, the first day of SXSW, and I heard my name as I explored the western side of downtown. Kitana called out as she hung a banner for their first-ever South Asia House event at SXSW — I helped attach it. I knew Kirtana from Drink and Click and caught up for a few minutes. Though Austin continues to grow, it’s not unusual that I meet a couple of people I know on these SXSW explorations.
