I have one more portrait from the Drink and Click from last December. Here’s Rachael shot at the Shiner Saloon in downtown Austin. We were on an outside deck three stories up. In the background, lights from cars on the street and the surrounding skyscrapers. It’s a distinctly urban environment but rendered abstract using shallow depth of field.

The 75mm f1.5 equivalent courtesy of the Fujifilm 50mm f1 lens creates lovely bokeh balls of out-of-focus lights. In addition, the background separation makes the subject pop.

As I recall, a small light lit Rachel’s face, but this image has blended that with the available light. Most venues don’t have this vantage point where I can blur out distant lights, making an unusual portrait.
