The elaborate porte cochere was just the start at the Bellagio. I ducked inside the lobby to document the glass artwork on the ceiling, an impressive work created by glass artist Dale Chihuly. I’ve been to the Bellagio and wanted a long, striking, wide angle.
Except, it was much too crowded. And there was a giant mirrored horse in the way. This equine sculpture was undoubtedly part of the hotel’s Chinese New Year celebration. A subsequent visit to the Bellagio’s conservatory unearthed magical Lunar New Year displays, which I blogged about back in April (seen here and here.)
The Bellagio is impressive in its faux-Italian style. However, I prefer the Aria’s modern architecture. The Bellagio has a safer and more timeless style that can continue for a while. The Aria will need to be updated in the future as styles change.
