Palace Street Photography, Palace of Versailles – Versailles, France

Issue 66 of my fabulous photography magazine is hot off the digital presses (via email). This special issue is dedicated to an extraordinary photographic trip I recently took that was on my bucket list. Of course, I also purchased a new camera and a few new lenses. Walking down the ornate, statue-filled hallway at Versailles, I noticed a person taking a picture of their friend. Unfortunately, you can see the camera or, most likely, a smartphone from this angle.

Still, I like the composition of the cute person with a triangular dress set against a white wall with window mutton patterns. There’s light, shadow, and a patterned texture. I think it works particularly well in black and white.

Conversely, not seeing the actual photographic device adds a bit more mystery. What are they doing, and what is their relationship? Sometimes, a bit of mystery makes an image more enticing.
