Cinema Glow – Austin, Texas

About two and a half blocks west of yesterday’s Sweetgreen restaurant is another glowing neon sign. The Cinema sign has been around for a while; here’s a post from 2019 shot with the Fujifilm X-T10 and 2017 with the Olympus PEN-F. Today’s framing differs from my usual since I tend to shoot buildings straight on. However, the image is perspective-corrected, something I didn’t do in the past.

I wonder if the type of camera or lens changes the way I frame a picture. I don’t know the answer. Maybe someday, all my pictures can be loaded into an AI, and it will give me unique insights that I didn’t realize.

I do use more portrait orientation now, even for architecture. I disliked that orientation in the past since the images looked smaller on my Mac, with giant black borders on either side. However, on the blog and in my monthly magazine, the vertical orientation shows larger images, and that’s true of smartphones, too. So, the output destination of my images is subtly influencing picture orientation.
