I’m still on the corner of 2nd and San Antonio, the same place as yesterday, but with a very different kind of picture. We traded a blue-hour urban landscape for a black-and-white street photograph.
I still managed a base ISO 200 but shot at 1/4-second, which created a nice motion blur on the pedestrians. If you click the picture on a computer, you can see a larger image. In the bigger image, you can tell the surrounding architecture is not perfectly sharp. I used poor technique, and the image stabilization wasn’t able to compensate.
Though we are at the same base ISO 200 as yesterday’s photo, today’s is noisier. However, the black-and-white conversion works well for these kinds of street photographs, and the extra noise simulates a bit of film-like grain. I wouldn’t call this picture filmic, but it’s a reasonable facsimile with digital.
