The Lantern-like Harry Ransom Center

I ended yesterday’s post commenting on the modernist building that attracted my attention. And here it is up close. The Harry Ransom Center, a museum on the University of Texas campus that has deep connections to photography. I’ve been there several times to see photo exhibits of the masters.

Today’s it’s all about the glowing architecture, lantern-like and lovely. It took extra effort to frame it precisely and tweaking it in post-processing. The building’s straight lines cried out for precision, which I try to do more often with architecture. We are looking at the Northeast corner facing south.

I framed the north, center, and east side with equal precision. However, I prefer the first photo with plantings adding a foreground green texture.

  1. Nice series on the Ransom Center. Really like the center image shot from the corner of the building.
