I was disappointed to see the Taylor National Bank building still under renovation when I visited in 2022, with no apparent progress since before the pandemic. Located on 2nd and Main Street, it is a very visible structure as you drive into downtown from the west. It’s my favorite building in Taylor.
With the building across the street fully restored, this corner shows promise as a shining example of Taylor’s downtown resurgence.
As I recall, on my first visit to Taylor, the chain link fence wasn’t there, and the entry area was accessible. I remember beautiful mosaic tile and handsome columns. Let’s hope the building will be fully restored soon. Although it’s been three years since my last visit, I’m not familiar with its current state. I’ll need to make another excursion to Taylor to see if there’s any progress.
