For my second post in this Almacenes San Jose mini-series, I feature several portraits. For consistency in this mini-series and because of the lackluster light, black-and-white worked better.
All of these folks worked at the various stores in the converted warehouse. And rather than a traditional store, they are more like cubbies or shipping containers. They perfectly match the industrial aesthetic, were probably easy and inexpensive to set up, and are easy to lock up. It’s a great idea as long as you don’t need much space for your merchandise.
From jewelry to knick-knacks to t-shirts, you can see what each store employee sells since I shot the portrait in front of their little business. I didn’t survey everyone, but four examples will give you a flavor of this place.
