My wife and I finished the afternoon with an intimate salon performance at Adam’s Music House. Music was a nice way to balance the visual stimulation we received from our earlier museum visits on Austin Museum Day.
I’ve talked about Adam’s Music House before, run by my friend, fellow photographer and professional classical pianist, Tony Tobin. The facility exists “For the Love of the Piano”, featuring intimate concerts, instruction and even sponsored fellowships.
Enrique gave a short performance as a prelude to the complete concert he’ll perform later this year. He is the first recipient of the Adam’s Music House fellowship. Enrique is quite the slacker. In addition to practicing piano, many hours per day, he’s a full-time Medical School Student in San Antonio. I met Enrique’s proud parents and they mentioned, even as a kid, whenever he had free time, he played the piano.
I rather like this moody, contrasty, and grainy, out-of-camera photo from the Olympus PEN-F. The grand piano is distinctive and needs no additional detail, while Enrique’s silhouette pops in front of the window. A black and white converted RAW is sharper and could pull out more details, but I opted for this more artistic rendering to capture the mood.
