Sparklers, Diwali 2018 – Austin, Texas

I had such a good time last year, I went the Diwali celebration again this year. Diwali is the Hindu festival of lights. In Austin, a temple south-west of the city has a big event. I particularly like the simple sparklers lit by families. I even did a photo essay last year featuring sixteen photos of sparkler induced celebrations.

I created more this year, with the same Olympus PEN-F and Panasonic Leica 25mm f1.4. Instead of rehashing a bunch of similar photos, today I feature this one image. My very favorite of the bunch. Sometimes the color, light, composition, people’s expressions, and the direction of the smoke, all falls into place to make what I consider, a magical image.

There’s certainly some luck, a lot of shooting, the right equipment and some skill involved. I’m just happy that, once in a while, I make an image that I really like. Hopefully, you like it too.
