Continuing with this year’s Fully Charged Live show in Austin, I feature a rather unique Harley-Davidson. I’m not a motorcycle person, but this vehicle did pique my interest. It’s an all-electric Harley, called the LiveWire, trading their traditional rumbling engine for the whine of an electric motor.
Unlike many electric vehicles, however, this was not quiet. Powered up and at speed, it had a deep and powerful roar that’s hard to describe. It seems like part of the Harley mystique is for noisy engines with presence, and even with electric, you get that.
As you can see, the motorcycle was safely bolted down and open for testing. I “rode” it too, and it’s the only motorcycle I’ve even been on. It seems crazy powerful and too scary for me. I feel a lot more comfortable surrounded by metal, especially with the fast drivers in Texas.
