Augustine is located on the west side of Rainey Street roughly across the street from Stagger Lee. The house was built in 1889. Unlike Icenhauer’s — which is from the same era — it appears to maintain much of the original detailing.
The dark green and brown color scheme is different than most of the Rainey Street bars. It gives a more elegant and old-world feel. However, I had to do extra processing with the black and white image to brighten the dark clapboard.
Like most Rainey Street bars, the backdrop is now a high-rise or high-rises in this case. The one on the left is the Shore Condominiums and the Hotel Van Zandt on the right.
