I’ve featured The Independent several times before — it’s currently the tallest building in Austin. I like it because it looks different from the typical Austin skyscraper. However, I’ve seen designs similar to this in other cities. It’s known as the Jenga tower for obvious reasons.
I captured a nice glow to the tower. Though before peak blue hour, the bluish hues and the golden lights make for a striking contrast. There looks to be some kind of party room and outdoor deck halfway that seem very luxurious. If you haven’t guessed, this is one of the higher-priced luxury condominiums in Austin.
Any taller, and I wouldn’t be able to fit the entire tower in the frame. At a 40mm equivalent, I currently can’t do wide shots with my Fujifilm GFX 50R. I’m trying to rectify this shortly, however. I’ll let you know as my experiment progresses.
