I opened this Oklahoma road trip series with a post about Buc-ee’s, and even talked about it again the next day. I think their business is brilliant. It used to be that you took your chances at dirty and small services stations when you were on road trips. Buc-ee’s turned that concept on its head.
Now you have giant convenience stores with great food, strong branding, and loads of super-clean bathrooms. They made a quick pit stop — one that you typically loathed — into an event.
We were heading south on Interstate 35 from Oklahoma and stopped at this location in Fort Worth, Texas. While I appreciate their better than average convenience food, the current situation made them into a safe choice. We ordered a bunch of food to go — they don’t have an eat-in option — which was pandemic perfect. We then had dinner in the car again. It was about a 4 1/2 hour drive from Tulsa and timed around dinner perfectly around 7pm.
