I mentioned yesterday that my wife and I made an impromptu restaurant visit on Mother’s Day. Even at 4pm, the place was buzzing with activity. The servers all had masks on, but the customers didn’t since they were eating. It almost looked like life before the pandemic.
During a run to the bathroom, I strategically brought my camera to document the architecture. As you can tell, the modern design is dramatic and cohesive. I love the repeating elements, especially the generous cylindrical lights.
The rich interior is courtesy of warm woods and deep reds, which obviously you can’t see. I opted for a more dramatic black and white treatment instead. Also, the place is darker than you might think. Shooting handheld at 1/8 of a second, and at higher ISOs, the monochrome treatment hides more quality limitations.
