After a nearly budget-busting four nights at the Disney’s Grand Californian, it was almost refreshing to stay at a modest, perfectly serviceable Hampton Inn. We certainly enjoyed our stay at Disneyland’s fanciest hotel. It was memorable, and the quick access to the parks was worth it. But, at heart, I’m a man of price performance. This place was 5 times less expensive than our Disney accommodation. And, we even got free breakfast.
As Hampton Inns go, this one is a tad more stylish than the one I stayed in Tulsa. Though the one from Oklahoma was half the price. Perhaps fitting in with the big city vibe, this one in Los Angeles is more muted and sophisticated.
We picked a location just south of Hollywood near Santa Monica Blvd and Vine Street. I had no idea if it was a safe neighborhood. However, the hotel was highly rated, and people didn’t seem to complain about the area. I later went out for a photo walk to explore and document. It was definitely not Beverly Hills. But seemed safe enough, at least during the day.
