There were two places I wanted to photograph in downtown Los Angeles. The first was the Bradbury Building, which I talked about several days ago. This is the second building I wanted to capture. The Walt Disney Concert Hall, located about a half of a mile north of the Bradbury.
Star architect, Fran Gehry, designed the concert hall, which opened in 2003. I’ve seen it once, a long time go and wanted to photograph this architectural marvel. However, I admit that I struggled to make a picture of it.
There is something about its irregular, curvy shape that messes with my brain. I find shooting most buildings quite easy. Of course, most are just rectangular boxes of varying dimensions. As you can see, not so with the Disney Concert Hall. I found it hard to make satisfactory compositions, and I made several attempts. I’ll showcase a few over this mini-series.
