Here is the scene on Waikiki Beach moments before the sun dipped below the horizon. The super warm orange light is radioactively searing the onlookers. You can’t see much of the beach beyond the rock wall. However, the world-famous diamond head is there in the background.
I made this photograph just 10 minutes after yesterday’s image. Much has changed in that short time as the sun drops very quickly near the horizon. You can also see the crowd has exploded exponentially. Perhaps 25-30% are using their smartphone to record this scene. I see only one person with a DSLR.
Two days ago, I featured a lone woman with a bright pink dress sitting on this same wall. She is still there. Can you see her? 45 minutes earlier, she was there by herself.
