Rainey Street is a popular area for SXSW Media and technology events. Companies rent out entire bungalows for several days. Here we have CNN+ a few weeks before they launched their streaming service.
Launched on March 30th, after 23 days of operation, CNN+ announced that they were shutting down. They spent about $300 million on the effort, which I’m sure included this SXSW showing. It was also for badge-holders only, a sign that they either had a small budget or didn’t understand marketing.
The graphic white and red wall made for a great photo, however. Especially contrasting with the silver-blue background. The motion blur adds a nice touch.
