For my first activity on my second day at SXSW 2022, I dropped into this parking lot turned playground. There was food, games, and giveaways. On Friday, this setup was incomplete but fully functional on my Sunday visit.
Slack makes enterprise chat software — something that I use at my company. It seems to work well enough, though, as you can imagine, it can be noisy with numerous notifications. I use it mainly to direct message coworkers when an email seems too burdensome.
A food truck offered an enticing menu. It was only available to SXSW badge holders, which sounds entirely reasonable to me. I’m happy they were open-minded enough to let the general public into their play space. I partook in a game where I won an insulated mug. And I asked a software usage question that vexed me. On some level, I’m amazed there’s an entire company dedicated to corporate chat software. But, the need for instantaneous communications only seems to increase.
