In contrast to the new pizza place we visited on the 2nd night, we returned to an old favorite on our last night in San Antonio. I first went to La Gloria seven years ago when we did a campus visit to Trinity University. Back then, Trinity was one of several universities my older son was exploring. La Gloria was a recommendation from someone at the school.
We immediately loved La Gloria and subsequently visited often. Though recently, we’ve eaten more at TexMex places on our visit to San Antonio. La Gloria is more traditional Mexican, which is notably different from TexMex. They have tacos and quesadillas but don’t have fajitas, for example. Returning to one of our favorites in the trendy Pearl District without waiting in line was an unexpected pleasure.
The Molcajete is one of their signature dishes, and we ordered the Arrachera en Adobo, skirt steak in chile papilla sauce, seen here. I captured a 1/2 second exposure as my wife mixed its contents.
