In my second of three street photographs from Time Square, we have a group portrait from the heart of the district. Usually, street photography at night is challenging, but the bright lights here made it easy. With more stamina, I would’ve shot more, but after my epic 15.5-mile photo walk that day, I was nearing the end of my endurance.
Almost midnight and still lively, Time Square lives up to New York’s reputation as the city that never sleeps. The area felt safe and filled with tourists — a concern I had booking my hotel nearby.
Conceptually, today’s photo is similar to this one, though executed differently. The framing is broader but with a longer focal length. I used my small Fujifilm X100V and opted for a black-and-white treatment. Though titled Group Portrait, tacitly, Times Square is the subject rather than the people.
