Cafe Life at Cafe Du Monde – New Orleans, Louisiana

Cafe Du Monde was established at the French Market in 1862. It’s open every day, 24 hours a day, except on Christmas Day and on the occasional Hurricane related weather events. We got there at 10:30 and the place was packed.

Despite not being a coffee drinker, which I explained earlier this year, we needed to stop by the world-famous cafe. And, not drinking coffee is my personal quirk, not shared by either my wife or son. I, of course, wanted to go, just for the opportunity of making photographs. Preferably at night when the glow of lights and the increased mystery almost always makes for a better image that the bright realities of daytime.

We actually went twice during our several days in New Orleans. The first time, just after our quick walk through of Bourbon Street. We got the coffee and beignets to go as a cold front and brisk winds chased us back to the hotel. That and the 8 hour journey from Austin, earlier that day, convinced us to retire early.
