Same lighting, same camera, same model, and the same event as yesterday’s portraits. But, a completely different look. Nothing like a playful expression and color to completely change the mood.
I like my snapshots typical, with smiling, colorful faces. However, my serious portraits are more artistic or somber, depending on how you look at it. I generally like models with a neutral or even serious expression. And, I often post-process them into black and whites. That’s the style that I’ve developed over the years at Drink and Clicks.
Of course, the color from the Fujifilm GFX 50R is spectacular — colorful without being overbearing. I shoot in RAW and post-process. I added some curves, highlight and shadow adjustments, and a tiny boost of contrast and color. Just enough punch to match Jennifer’s bubbly expression.
The monochromes from yesterday can look like this too. They are shot in the same exact way in RAW. But, I like those serious expressions better with a less colorful treatment.
