There are historic reasons for being on the left side, apparently, which are detailed in this article. Something to do with most right-handed, sword wielding warriors wanting to be closer to their enemies. Always fun to find the history behind what we take for granted.

So my question has always been — were left-handed warriors at an advantage or disadvantage? Like left-handed pitchers?
Pure speculation on my part. Perhaps, an advantage. They will have a different moves that right handed warriors will not be familiar with.
One would think that … unless they decided that being left-handed was a sign of the devil or something like that.
