I’m returning to downtown Austin during this year’s SXSW, mainly to feature a camera and not the event itself. A new camera, in fact, that I bought back in early March. It’s very unique and one that the readers of my newsletter found out about in my first issue in April. I’ll do a mini-series of black and white street photos before talking about the camera in detail.
I captured this photo at the Austin Convention Center, ground zero for SXSW. I didn’t spend much time, it’s usually not very interesting for photography and I’ve shot many photos there. This scene, however, attracted my attention.
It’s very meta, as people say now. I’m taking a photograph of a photographer who is taking a photograph of a person that’s taking a photograph. The subject in front of the big round disk is taking a selfie, using a computerized camera with a ring light.
