About a year ago, our family dog, Lucky, passed away. It was certainly a sad and painful time. But now, we have happy thoughts of our time with him. I did an art-ish transformation of a photograph I made in his last hours, and had it printed.
Just before the holidays, I hung this picture in a prominent alcove off the main hallway. He is now there every day to greet us.
So much of photography is now virtual. Photos made digitally and stuck being viewed on small LCD screens. My goal last year and continuing this year is to print more of my photographs in many different ways. I’ve talked about small tactile Instax Prints, making books, and framing prints. Different styles of output for different images, each intended to set a particular mood.
This portrait of Lucky, with the faux-oil painting effect printed on canvas, maybe a bit melodramatic. But, I think it nicely matches the mood I like to convey.
