I’m back on the corner of 6th and Congress. I got a pleasant glow of the setting sun casting dramatic shadows, and I caught a bicyclist in the suitable spot as a foreground element. Welcome to downtown Austin, Texas, in the middle of July 2020. The Canon G1X Mark II isn’t the fastest camera but can work for street photography with a little anticipation.
You can see the steadily growing Indeed building under construction, and the relatively quiet streets due to the pandemic. It’s a slice of time and space — the reason I love photography so much.
Today’s is the last post of my 1/2 month series shot with the Canon G1X Mark II. I like its colors, the versatility, and the comparably small size. There’s a character to the pictures created with this camera. I’ll swing back to this Canon later, after switching back to the Fujifilm GFX 50R.
I’ll even compare the 6-year-old compact G1X Mark II against the medium format GFX 50R — which sounds crazy — if you are familiar with their strengths. But that’s a topic for another day.
