Back in July, I did a socially distanced photo walk with my friend Chuck. We kept our distance, wearing masks, but close enough that we could communicate. It was different but still enjoyable — shooting with a friend injected a much needed social component to photography.
We were back to our favorite spot on 2nd street near the new central library. This is yet another photo of the 2nd street bridge. But, different for a few reasons. First, it’s with my Fujifilm GFX 50R in all of its 51MP glory. Second, it’s in black and white, like I’ve done for most of my A Changing Austin documentation series. Most importantly, it captures the beginning stages of the last skyscraper to go up in this area.
This building under construction was leased in its entirety by Google. While it looks like any other in these beginning stages, this tower is set to be the most unique in Austin. I saw it this past weekend, 3 months after this photo, and its distinct structure is taking shape. Coverage to continue as it further evolves.

The images from the GFX are simply stunning. I like the black and white treatment.
Thank you, Khürt. As you can tell, I’ve been having fun with the GFX.
