SXSW Hobnobbing – Austin, Texas

After exploring and documenting Rainey Street, I happened on the upscale and playful Hotel Van Zandt. The warm decor and temperature were welcome comfort from an unusually brisk Austin evening in March.

I ran into to some women that I met in an earlier happy hour. They were kind enough to mention a free open bar on the 2nd floor.

Even before the COVID induced worldwide isolation, I hadn’t gone to any conferences in a while. While I rank in the middle on the introvert/extrovert scale according to an online Myers-Briggs test. I enjoy hobnobbing at these events, especially with some social lubrication (aka alcohol).

I met people from around the world and of different age groups. We talked technology, trends, and about the future. These discussions can get a little too optimistic. I’ve been around long enough to know these wunder-gadgets often don’t work as promised. Yet, I had fun. It’s been a while since I socialized beyond my usual small group.

I have a free monthly newsletter that’s perfect for busy people. Signup for the Newsletter to get the best of my posts, old and new, plus additional content not available anywhere else.
